The North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality’s Division of Water Resources notified the owner and operator of the Kinnakeet Shores wastewater treatment plant that the plant was placed on a sewer moratorium effective October 13, 2021. As we understand the situation, this means that new construction cannot move forward. The moratorium prohibits any new sewer taps, sewer extensions or additional flow.
